Short and Curly - explained

As you may have noticed Tat/Avena and Damo/RG have released a new demo last weekend.

There are many things to say about this wonderwork. But even better when the creators themselves speak up and explain what they did there! Tat just published an article about the technical background of the production and his take on the "curl-noise" on his blog.

Makes me want to watch the video again! Damo and Tat have always done things differently and knowing that these two loonies were working together could only sound like good news, well they did not disappoint. Kudos to Tat for another interesting article about the genesis of this jewel.

This is a beautifully accessible write-up, and I really can't emphasise enough how smart the algorithmic decisions Tat describes here are. There's no way this kind of partial effect should be able to run as "real time" as it does here on an STe, and the compromises described in this write up to allow it to be so are just -elegant-. This intro may not have as many dots as your usual "record breaking" style dot effect, but don't be fooled - this is pure witchcraft.
