Well maybe simply to make it available to most people out there? Had I a Jaguar I would have bought it on cartridge as it looks, moves and sound so perfect. A couple of games I took part to were also sold as boxes AND freely made available for download following that idea. But maybe I am wrong here, who knows?

True, but quite an expensive import. I would've bought it if it were available in Europe. I'd also pay for the ROM FWIW
I've been thinking to order the physical game. If the publisher stopped responding, does that mean you get none of the money from the sale?
If that's the case, it sucks - I would really like the money to go to you guys.
what Mic and I wanted to do was to publish a game, a physical game with a box and a media, for the last Atari hardware.
once the game was published we received a few full copies of the game, including box and manual and of course the cartridge.
We offered one to Gemtos party as a reward for the competition, one is gone to the BNF , the central library for France, as they keep copies of videos games for long term preservation. ( https://www.bnf.fr/fr/la-memoire-des-jeux-video )
we got a report stating that during 2024, 78 copies were sold.
and never heard of the publisher after that :)
i will speak only for myself, but the target was reached, the game exists as an official published game.
