Whoa CiH, that sounds like a really trivial problem to fix, why wouldn't find someone to look at it. The CM8833s are the best. I had mine completely reworked, too:ย https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=38417, love it to this day.

Yes, the CM8833-1 is and looks awesome, I like that it has the Scartplug. But the CM8833-MKII aka SC1435 is excellent, too (couldn't tell which one I like more).
