Recent 68k inside Party also brought a new Jaguar release to the surface. Ggn reveals:
Here we go, we've kept it under wraps for quite a while, but now's the time to announce this:
Adam is Me, the absolutely smashing game for the Atari 800 from 2020 (http://aim.atariscene.pl) finally found its way to the Jaguar (after a brief stop at Atari ST and Commodore Amiga)! Presented last night at 68k inside demoparty in Finland (https://68k-inside.party), it ranked first in the wild compo category :).
For the impatient, click this link to download the ROM image: http://d-bug.me/releases/adam_jaguar.zip (also, feel free to leave a comment at https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=94605 or https://demozoo.org/productions/325838/)
You might be wondering what is this game about. Put simply, it's a challenging puzzle game, heavily inspired by a game by Arvi Teikari, Baba Is You. It uses classic Sokoban mechanics, but in addition allows the player to interact and change the world's parameter by forming 3 word sentences. A typical level can be seen below:

This has a few rules in place like "Adam Is Me", "Lake Is Win", "Wall Is Stop" etc. All these blocks can be pushed at will (level geometry permitting) and can be broken, or new ones can be formed. The goal is always for "Me" to touch the "Win" condition. Because the game welcomes experimentation, it features an undo/redo system of about 92 steps, which should be enough for most cases :).
As expected, the game starts out easy but quickly cranks the difficulty up! 64 levels are included (8 worlds, 8 screens per world), and only 40 are required to finish the game, so don't feel bad if you can't finish all of them. Also, don't feel pressured to play all the levels in order, the game encourages you to skip ahead and come back to more demanding screens!
This party version has a few caveats:
- Saving was not tested and might or might not work (I never tried it with an EEPROM cart or anything similar)
- Screen centering is acting up. Sorry about that, but I didn't have enough time to fix this before the party
- The audio player gave me some issues at the last moment so I had to do quite some firefighting to get it to play nice. There's still some issues when triggering a sound effect (some unexpected sounds are heard). It'll be fixed for the final.
The final version will contain:
- Less bugs (hopefully!)
- Tested save/load
- More music (for now only 2 tunes are available, we plan to include a few more)
- Physical version? (We'll see)
Other than that, the whole team wishes you lots of run with the game, and also make sure to leave some love to ilmenit and the whole Atari 800 team for originally making the game and releasing the source code for free!
