Hot on the heels of 505's party report on this very site, D-Bug and Data Airlines have created a mini site with another report, plus all entries from the cracktro showcase running on a browser (powered by tIn's hatari build)
๐Visit the D-Bug website for the announcement, plus some bonus pictures (permalink)

I have three remarks:
1) "Many people afterwards openly admitted that this was the most fun they've had in a long time"
True words!
2) "Every time the main organiser changed. So it wouldn't feel like a commitment to them And reduce the stress of the same people organising over and over."
I wonder, with all the entry handling, showing and streaming going on, how much this was this still true?
3) The idea of several small and simple gatherings with no intent to grow bigger sounds future proof to me. Just what we do with the many people who want to be there?
And I agree with the comments above about the presentation being top-notch. Being able to check the releases directly on the web is amazingly convenient.
Yeah, this is the problem I guess. The ideal solution would be a decentralised network of local gatherings - but even then, too many local (and less local) people for this room :(
At how many attendees would something like this no longer feel the same?
Or maybe it's about expectations management? BB ended up at least partially presented as a "demoparty" when it was much more "guys book a cottage for a weekend away"...
At least it work well with Chrome on Mobile and PC.
I understand that Sommarhack used to be really small. The years I went, it was like 35-40 people. While it was friendly and everyone would say hi, there were lots of those people I didn't really talk to.
BB was 14, so a more "family" feel. Everyone spoke to everyone (often simultaneously), we ate together, etc
Here its taking quite a while to load a screen (white screen), I wait for like a minute or so and then it starts. Framerate is mostly "on the edge" on my (old) PC.
Btw, the cosiness of Buxton Bytes sometimes reminded me and a few others to the ParaCon parties. The first edition of this series was a private meet up and afterwards it became a small party from 1999 to 2006 with about 15-20 people, where about 10 of them where regular visitors and the others were changing during the years. It was a well working concept (friendly regular meeting, extensive breakfast, some sort of trust feel, no regular compos) and also attracted international visitors. I remember meeting gwEm, Shazz, sts, Tobe, Earx, Cooper, ggn, havoc and a few more there over the years. It was the relaxed autumn counterpart to the bigger parties (which we alsoย loved to visit) and it was a pity when the series ended.
Exactly what I like. Likewise I'm not a person speaking much. I'm more that person who is listening to the conversations and enjoying, there stories. But 35-40 is already a good amount for Sommarhack, I thought it's smaller. But hey! Thats cool and I would like to visit it somehow.
